Using UV Light on Dolls
What ultraviolet inspection may reveal and where it can mislead.

Old-looking is not the same as original.
Reproduction heads, replacement bodies, new wigs, reset eyes, restrung limbs, repainting, reproduction clothing, and mismatched boxes are common. Some are acceptable when disclosed. They simply change identity and value.
Watch for: fresh paint over crazing, hidden bisque hairlines, new elastic, modern synthetic wigs, replaced eyes, mismatched skin tones, new clothing on antique bodies, and boxes that do not match the doll.
